1984Bernard Rouleau reviews the fifth delivery of supplementary maps for the Austrian Conference on Spatial Planning's Atlas of Spatial Development in Austria (ÖROK-Atlas). The collection then contained 95 sheets; eight new sheets appeared in 1987 following nineteen published in 1986. The 297 × 630 mm landscape sheets fold into three to fit an A4 screw binding. Most maps are at 1:1,000,000, with some smaller-scale maps grouped on a single sheet. Rouleau notes the growing prominence of graphics and statistical and analytical data, vivid colors, and accompanying explanatory texts and statistical tables, which he praises; nearly all maps present data by municipality. The two series cover population change, work and employment, industry, housing, commerce and enterprise, water management, and natural areas and environments. He singles out the maps of legal nature-protection regulations and housing, and judges the still-incomplete collection a valuable, up-to-date documentary source on Austria.
