Antarctic Map Folio Series

The Antarctic Map Folio Series, published by the American Geographical Society, planned 19 folios, of which 17 have been published, with the remaining two (Antarctic birds and Antarctic mammals) scheduled for 1975. Designed to present recent Antarctic scientific research in atlas form, each folio contains maps and explanatory text on specific topics, covering aeronomy, geology, geomorphology, glaciology, oceanography, meteorology, biology, and soil science. Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, each folio is prepared by a specialist with an advisory panel, using data from national Antarctic programs. The series provides a systematic cartographic record of the continent's physical and biological features, serving as an essential resource for polar research.
