Short notices: Atlas of Madagascar

M. Urbain-Faublée reviews Atlas de Madagascar, compiled by the Association des Géographes de Madagascar under R. Battistini, Fr. and P. Le Bourdiec. Its seven sections cover physical, human and rural geography, industrial resources and activities, communications, facilities, and regional synthesis. The examined copy contained 62 plates and 106 pages of commentary, but lacked seven listed plates and some commentary, including plate 54 on secondary and higher public education. The reviewer praises the work’s care and usefulness, finds some sections overly optimistic, and hopes for a complete second edition.
