L. J. Jay reviews Atlas du Luxembourg, listed as published by Luxembourg's Board of National Education in 1971 and prepared by the University of Nottingham's Department of Geography with Luxembourg geographers. Jay welcomes its detailed coverage of a country inadequately represented in Benelux atlases. The first instalment contains 42 sheets measuring 40 × 50 cm, with about 70 planned; screw binding allows supplementary sheets to be inserted. Six sections cover historical, physical, administrative, demographic, economic and social topics. Full-colour relief and geology maps use 1:200,000, while most climate, population and economic-resource maps use 1:400,000, allowing four maps per sheet and encouraging comparison. Jay highlights southwestern industrial-belt population growth between 1870 and 1910 and its distinctive age and foreign-resident composition, and praises the atlas's depiction of regional economic resources and post-war changes.
