1985This report describes the compilation and publication of the Atlas of Morocco. Published under the Moroccan Geographical Committee, the atlas is technically produced by the Physical Geography Laboratory of the Scientific Institute of Morocco, using materials supplied by public services and research institutes with specialist assistance. The general plan comprises 54 chapters in 11 sections. Colour plates have specialist explanatory notes and principally use scales of 1:1,000,000, 1:2,000,000 and 1:4,000,000; the 1:1,000,000 sheets are designed for assembly. Between 1954 and 1962, 12 plates and 11 notes appeared, covering railways, livestock, diseases, European agricultural properties, rainfall, forests, saline waters, mining and metallogenic distributions. Further plates planned for 1963 concern population distribution, administrative organization, bioclimatic stages, water use and hypsometry.
