Om arbeidet med Nasjonalatlas for Norge

This article describes the work on the National Atlas of Norway. The atlas aims to establish a modern, decision-oriented geographic information system for use in politics, planning, administration, and education. Its core feature is a flexible publication format of loose map sheets accompanied by text booklets, facilitating updates and subscription by topic. The paper details the project's organization, target users, thematic classification system (21 main themes), and implementation priorities, emphasizing collaboration with professional bodies, the use of EDP technology, and standardized data collection and presentation. Managed by the Ministry of Environment with the Norwegian Mapping Authority as secretariat and technical executor, the project seeks to provide comprehensive, comparable geographic information to support resource management and balanced regional development.
