L'atlas national de Norvège

This article reviews the Norwegian national atlas project, focusing on its agriculture and forestry volume (theme 8, fascicle 1). The atlas includes 23 color maps covering agricultural land, land structure, crop distribution, livestock, and subsidy zones, with detailed commentary by expert Arne Thormodsoeter. The article notes gaps in the atlas, such as the omission of agricultural labor and production equipment. Additionally, it examines the socio-economic impacts of North Sea hydrocarbon extraction on western Norway, highlighting that while the industry employs only 3% of the workforce, it contributes over half of export value and about 20% of GDP, while spurring new related activities.
