Sweden · Version 1
1971–2014Ernst Lehmann reviews Atlas över Sverige, published by the Swedish Society for Anthropology and Geography and edited by Magnus Lundqvist, assessing its organization and presentation through seven published installments containing 21 double-page sheets. Intended for scientific and practical economic use, the atlas presents national overviews of physical, demographic, economic, social, and historical subjects; rapidly changing topics are to be omitted or published later. Lehmann praises its printing and design, particularly the signed expert commentaries in Swedish with English summaries, supplemented by thematic maps, profiles, diagrams, tables, and references. He examines sheets on glaciofluvial landforms, glacial striations, ice-retreat chronology, and Baltic development, judging them useful for checking, correlating, and synthesizing existing Quaternary research. A sheet on shorelines and ice-dammed lakes remained forthcoming.
