Summary

This article reviews the revised edition of the Atlas of Finland, published in 1941 by the Geographical Society of Finland. The work comprises two text volumes and an atlas of 55 maps, significantly expanded from the 1899 original. The author notes that geography has evolved beyond traditional place-name and political boundary descriptions into a comprehensive discipline touching all branches of human knowledge. The first volume focuses on physical geography, the second on population and civilization, with chapters written by specialists and accompanied by bibliographies. Particular attention is given to Finnish lakes, forest economy, electoral system, and demographic statistics, with a suggestion that statistical data could benefit from international comparison.
