This French report describes the Martinique atlas while it was in preparation as the second volume of the Atlas of French Overseas Departments, with publication planned for 1976 after the Réunion atlas. The Institut géographique national was preparing and printing the series from layouts produced by the CNRS Centre d’études de géographie tropicale. The Martinique volume was to contain 37 map plates covering the physical environment, population, economy, and cultural and public-service facilities, accompanied by approximately 100 pages of explanatory texts, graphs and simple monochrome maps. Numerous specialists in the department assembled and prepared the geographical and statistical material.
