This review evaluates the seventh installment of the Atlas of the Danube Countries, published in 1983. The installment contains five maps covering runoff, mineral resources, major crops, and livestock, each accompanied by multilingual commentary and source references. Particular attention is given to the agricultural dot maps. The reviewer argues that their small scale, tiny symbols, and subdued colors impede readability. Combining crops with distinct ecological roles on a single map further obscures differences among agricultural systems, while the simultaneous use of area- and production-based units creates methodological inconsistency and amplifies the effects of fluctuating yields. Despite these cartographic shortcomings, the explanatory texts are informative and concise, and the typographical quality is high. Overall, the maps remain a valuable source of regional information when examined carefully.
