Antarctic Map Folio Series

Summary

This article reviews the progress of Antarctic research publications during 1973-1974. The American Geographical Society's Antarctic Map Folio Series Folio 18, "Antarctic Mammals," is forthcoming, covering the geographic distribution, biology, and physical characteristics of whales, seals, and dolphins, with recent systematic population data and an extensive bibliography. Concurrently, the American Geophysical Union's Antarctic Research Series Volume 21, "Recent Antarctic and Subantarctic Brachiopods," has been released, with Volumes 22 ("Human Adaptability") and 23 (a bird guide) in press. Volume 24 will adopt a new format featuring rapid individual paper publication and a complete microfiche edition, enhancing timeliness and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, translation of the Soviet Antarctic Expedition Information Bulletin Volume 8 is underway.
