St Helmfried · 1996
Helmfried discusses the agricultural atlas, Series II, Volume 4, as one of the Danish national atlas project's early thematic volumes in a handy format. The Geographical Society published it in 1986 with financial support from the agricultural and veterinary research council, following a lengthy preparation and production process using traditional cartographic techniques during a period of rapid agricultural-geographical change. He notes that Denmark's outline, excluding Bornholm, the Faroe Islands and Greenland, readily accommodates national maps at 1:1.25 million on a double-page spread or four maps at 1:3 million on one page, facilitating the cartographic depiction of its varied, intensively farmed landscapes.
