The article reports that The Atlas of Taiwan was to be issued as Research Report No. 72, after a popular edition appeared in early 1959. The final atlas was planned to contain about 175 color maps with Chinese and English legends, drawing largely on original research from the previous decade; the author judged its academic standard higher than that of the 1950 Atlas of Land Utilization in Taiwan. Some complex color maps were to be printed in Hong Kong, and the author expected the institute's efficiency and Chen Cheng-siang's determination to ensure completion.

This notice describes the 1959 Atlas of Taiwan Geography (臺灣地理圖集), listed as Research Report 93 of the Fu-Min Geographical Institute of Economic Development, pp. 1–144. Its approximately 200 maps cover administrative divisions, physical geography—including rainfall, erosion and major soil groups—population, social and economic topics such as education and health, land use and settlement, cultivated land, crop distribution, yields and processing, and livestock composition and distribution. The introduction and headings are in Chinese and English.

In the Asia section, the survey briefly reviews Cheng-siang Chen's Geographical Atlas of Taiwan (1959), issued by the Fu-Min Geographical Institute of Economic Development in Taipei. The reviewer calls it compact, clearly printed, and well executed, giving a clear picture of Taiwan's contemporary economic development, and describes Chen as an indefatigable researcher and careful scholar, with this atlas one of his many works on Taiwan.
