The Times Atlas of the World: Comprehensive Edition

Summary

This review assesses the 1968 Times Atlas of the World: Comprehensive Edition, priced at $42.50. It condenses the five-volume Mid Century Edition into one volume, retaining its regional maps while revising and expanding coverage of the global environment. The reviewer praises its printing, accuracy, thoroughness, and value, but notes that binding obscures some place names near the central fold, environmental graphics are overcrowded, astronomical material is outdated, and city insets lack detail. The atlas is judged adequate for most U.S. libraries’ general needs, except for domestic coverage.
