Reports of ICA commissions: National and Regional Atlases

Summary

The ICA Commission on National and Regional Atlases, with the Faculty of Geography at Gadjah Mada University and other Indonesian institutions, organized a workshop in Yogyakarta on 20–23 October 2010. Its two themes were recent directions in national atlas cartography and national, regional, city and school atlases as expressions of space-related identity; Part II of the National Atlas of Indonesia was to be presented. The commission's premise is that theme selection, symbols, languages and place names make atlases carriers of national, regional or city self-images.
