Présentation du Deuxième Atlas de Belgique

Summary

This article presents the background, content, and significance of the Second Atlas of Belgium. Initiated by the Belgian National Committee of Geography, this project aims to update and expand upon the first atlas published between 1950 and 1972. The second edition plans 94 plates covering physical geography, population, economy, and transport, introducing innovations such as the 1:250,000 scale. Despite budgetary constraints, the project benefits from voluntary collaboration among university geographers and new technologies like automated cartography. The atlas serves domestic education, research, and administration while enhancing Belgium's international visibility.
