Summary

The Atlas of the Czechoslovak Republic was published in 1935 by Orbis in Prague, issued by the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It comprises 55 map sheets accompanied by explanatory texts in Czech, French, German, or English. Initiated in 1921 and completed after fifteen years of work, the atlas was printed by the Military Geographical Institute. Its structure covers natural conditions, population, agriculture, mining, metallurgy, industry, transport, trade, education, and physical training, with a concluding section on statistical methods. Although some data derive from the 1921 census, the atlas predominantly reflects conditions of the preceding decade, aiming to illustrate interrelations between geographical and economic phenomena.
