Summary

This article reviews recent developments in the compilation of regional atlases in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe during the early 1960s. It first introduces the Atlas of the Ukrainian SSR and the Moldavian SSR (Moscow, 1962), which contains approximately 130 maps at various scales, covering physical geography, industry, agriculture, and economic regionalization, supplemented by concise explanatory texts. The article then evaluates the new series of Polish voivodeship maps at 1:500,000, which show notable improvements in information density, cartographic quality, and relief representation. Furthermore, it discusses the second volume of the Atlas of Denmark, focusing on population distribution, and the inaugural issue of the International Yearbook of Cartography (1961), outlining its objectives and contents. Finally, it mentions the newly produced plastic relief map of the Tatra Mountains at 1:100,000 in Czechoslovakia.
