Summary

The report reviews the National Atlases Commission’s 1969–1972 work in sharing and standardizing atlas practice through monographs, specialist working groups, bibliographies, biennial meetings, and exhibitions. It records three Moscow University syntheses published in 1970–1972, a monograph on agricultural-map standardization, and the 1970 Madrid plenary review. Noting growth in regional atlases for development areas beyond administrative boundaries, it proposes continued exchanges on completed and planned atlases and greater attention to new practical atlas types.
