Geograficzno-statystyczny atlas Polski
Summary
Published in 1916, the Geographical-Statistical Atlas of Poland was compiled under the direction of Eugeniusz Romer, professor of geography at the University of Lwów, with contributions from several specialists. The visible opening consists mainly of title pages and Polish, German, and French contents, listing 32 plates and accompanying texts. Topics include relief, geology, climate, vegetation, history, administration, population, language, religion, education, landownership, agriculture, mining, industry, savings, and transport, including Polish populations across the partition territories and neighboring regions. The closing plates use multilingual legends to map mineral deposits and mine production values, industrial population and employment shares, industrial sectors, savings deposits, and rail and water transport. The savings plate includes comparisons by religious or ethnic group and growth in credit-association deposits. The transport plate distinguishes railway speeds, double-track lines, navigable waterways, and ports, and presents railway-network density and freight indicators. These opening and closing materials establish the atlas’s thematic coverage and cartographic presentation, but do not support a summary of the omitted analyses or conclusions of the complete work.
