Summary

At its fifth plenary meeting in Paris and Lyon, 25–30 April, the Commission heard 17 reports on national and regional atlas projects, reviewed an Australian report, and displayed completed and developing atlases. It highlighted the completed Atlas of Czechoslovakia and the first part of Spain’s National Atlas. Nine research papers discussed proposed map contents, standardized legends, correlations between physical-environment maps, and map–text relations; most studies remained unfinished. The agenda also included planning work through the 1968 New Delhi congress.
