Summary

Following its London meetings of 22–24 July 1964, the International Geographical Union’s National Atlases Commission drafted a work plan for 1965–1968. It assigned assistance to atlas projects and proposed working-group recommendations to standardize map subjects, indicators and legends across seven thematic fields, informed by existing atlases and international consultation. Planned activities included systematic reviews, a bibliography supplement covering 1964–1968, exchanges and exhibitions in 1966 and 1968, and a plenary meeting in France in 1966. Further assignments concerned atlas readership and sales, seeking UNESCO and FAO assistance, and developing a minimum programme for national atlases in developing countries.
