Summary

At the 1960 International Geographical Congress in Stockholm, the IGU Commission on National Atlases reviewed its completed 1958–60 programme. Its outputs included a monographic study, a Polish bibliography, technical studies, consultations and publications, alongside an exhibition representing twenty-six countries. Renewed for 1960–64 under K. A. Salishchev, the Commission proposed harmonizing atlas programmes and legends, examining regional atlases, promoting international reuse of atlas materials, and developing methods for systematic updating.
