Edited by George Kish and published in 1979 under the auspices of the International Geographical Union’s Commission on the History of Geographical Thought, Bibliography of International Geographical Congresses, 1871–1976 is the first volume in the Series of Studies of the History of Geography. The visible preface and contents describe a bibliography organized by congress, covering 23 gatherings from Antwerp in 1871 to Moscow in 1976, with 6,969 entries. Its stated purpose is to make communications presented by successive generations of geographers more accessible.
