Summary
H. Waldb aur reviews deliveries 6 and 7 of Atlas över Sverige, issued a year apart, each containing three map sheets with text. Published in Stockholm from 1953 under the Swedish Society for Anthropology and Geography, the atlas had previously been reviewed after its first fifteen plates appeared. Sheets 19–22 cover maximum glaciation, European vegetation zones during the Würm–Weichsel glaciation, Scandinavian ice retreat and Baltic development, present land uplift, and Sweden’s main ice divide, ice margins, end moraines and glacial striations; the accompanying text includes a Late Quaternary synoptic table. Sheets 41–42 map mires with fine brown dots and patches, name 390 mires, and provide profiles, photographs and a pollen diagram. Agricultural sheets 73–74, 75–76 and 79–80 depict cereal production and consumption, surplus and deficit areas, crop-area shares and hectare yields, including potatoes and sugar beet. They use proportional circles for municipal totals and graded area colours. The reviewer praises the atlas’s presentation and rich content and hopes for its early completion.
