Summary
This is a summary of three German-language academic book reviews. The first reviews the seventh installment of the National Atlas of the Netherlands, which includes ten thematic maps covering gravity anomalies, climate, income, agriculture, industry, and commerce. The maps are of high quality, but the heavy use of analytical sub-maps hinders a holistic view. The second reviews Walther Hofmann's book "Geländeaufnahme/Geländedarstellung" (Field Survey and Terrain Representation), aimed at geography students. While concise, it suffers from uneven coverage and some potentially misleading explanations, prompting a call for a comprehensive multi-volume handbook of cartography. The third introduces the restoration and republication of Martin Waldseemüller's 1511/1520 'Carta Itineraria Europae', a rare and significant map whose publication is of great value to the history of cartography.
