Summary

This article reviews the first volume of the Atlas of Australian Resources, compiled by the Division of Regional Development under the Department of National Development in Canberra. The atlas aims to systematically illustrate the interrelationships between the environment and human activities across Australia through approximately 50 thematic maps. Published as individual map sheets accompanied by explanatory booklets, it covers diverse topics such as soils, groundwater, industry, agriculture, climate, and population distribution. The review notes the atlas's practical design and clear color differentiation, while pointing out legibility issues in some mineral deposit symbols.
