Summary

This review examines the 1973 National Atlas of the People's Republic of Bulgaria and the map 'Europe: Socialist Countries of Southeastern Europe'. The National Atlas, a collaborative work by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and other institutions, contains over 250 maps covering physical geography (geology, geomorphology, climate, etc.) and socio-economic themes (population, industry, agriculture, etc.). Employing various scales and quantitative methods with excellent technical execution, it comprehensively presents the country's natural conditions and achievements in economic and cultural development. The map, at a scale of 1:1,500,000, covers five countries, includes a detailed index and explanatory text, and is practical in design, though its relief shading method could be improved. Both works demonstrate the contemporary level of cartographic technology and information integration.
