Summary
Henrik Søgaard reviews the fifth instalment of Atlas der Donauländer, edited by Josef Breu (1970), covering climate, geology and tectonics, geomorphology, population distribution, and rail traffic. He praises the cartographic execution and considers the brief four-language commentary probably sufficient, while questioning the usefulness of the population dot-and-circle map and railway traffic bands. The railway map shows dense, heavily used networks in Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Austria, and Yugoslavia north of Rijeka–Belgrade, contrasting with sparse, lightly used networks in southern Yugoslavia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Albania.
