Summary

At its Moscow plenary meeting on 11–20 August 1958, the International Geographical Union’s Commission on National Atlases brought together geographers and cartographers from 16 countries. Participants reviewed the progress and methods of national-atlas projects, discussed preliminary commission research, and formulated shared views on atlas purpose, content, and improvement. The closing sessions coordinated work intended for completion before the 1960 International Geographical Congress in Stockholm.
