Malawi’s national atlas tradition is a modest but significant chapter in the country’s cartographic history. Emerging in the post-independence era, when many African nations sought to assert their identity through state-sponsored documentation, Malawi’s single national atlas was published in 1983 by the Malawi Government. This work, titled *The National Atlas of Malawi*, was compiled in English, reflecting the country’s official language and its administrative needs at the time. The atlas served as a comprehensive reference, integrating physical geography, demographic data, and economic resources, likely designed to support planning and education.
