Mapy a Atlasy: Atlas Ukrajinskoj SSR i Moldavskoj SSR
Summary
This review examines the 1962 Moscow-published Atlas of the Ukrainian SSR and Moldavian SSR and the 1961-62 Warsaw-published series of Polish voivodeship maps. The former comprises about 130 maps covering physical geography, industry, agriculture, and economic regionalization, based on 1958-1960 statistical data, with accompanying text on development prospects to 1980. The latter shows significant improvements in information density, cartographic quality, and hypsometric representation, featuring detailed toponymy, contour lines, and transport networks, supplemented by geographical descriptions. Both works demonstrate advances in regional cartography and offer valuable reference for the preparation of the Czechoslovak national atlas.
