Summary

The UGI Commission on National Atlases met in Budapest on 7–12 September 1962 to review national and regional atlas projects and methodological work, including Czechoslovak preparations and industrial mapping. It refined recommendations for standardizing atlas content, legends, statistics, and commentary—using Sališčev’s Les atlas nationaux as an adaptable model—and proposed better international exchange, documentation, periodic updating, and support for regional atlases. Working groups were established on population, critical atlas reporting, notes and commentaries, and statistics and industrial maps.
