Summary

This is a review of the "Atlas of Latin America," published in Moscow in 1968 by the General Directorate of Geodesy and Cartography under the USSR Council of Ministers. Printed in Russian with a Spanish supplement, the atlas contains 56 colored plates. Its structure includes historical maps in the first part, physical geography (geology, tectonics, volcanoes and earthquakes, mineral resources, climate, soils, vegetation, and flora/fauna distribution) in the second, and chorographic maps of individual countries or regions in the third. The final 16 pages cover population and economy, including ethnic composition and density, industry and energy, agricultural structure and production, complex economic maps per country, and foreign trade. The reviewer concludes that the atlas is rich in information, particularly in certain physical and economic maps, and, given its high cartographic quality, serves as an excellent reference for those, such as teachers, needing a homogeneous overview of Latin American countries.
