Summary

L. Dudley Stamp commemorates the Polish geographer Eugeniusz Romer, who died on January 28 aged eighty-four, crediting his direction with the quality and breadth of Poland’s official maps and recalling his British friendships from the 1928 International Geographical Congress. In retirement, Romer studied theoretical geomorphology, particularly the development of African river systems. Stamp hopes that a planned English summary of this work will appear posthumously.
