Periodical and serial publications on cartography

Summary

In 1966, the author published a comparative survey of the world's cartographic literature in Petermanns Geographische Mitteilungen. The steady growth of the cartographic literature since that date, and also the rapid development of cartography itself, motivated the author to prepare a new review. The paper concentrates principally on strictly cartographic serials but also includes both geographic and geodetic serials that include papers on cartographic subjects. The survey is organized by countries thus permitting a general description of the cartographic publications of individual states together with a commentary on their scientific-technical level of attainment.
