The article presents an overview of the compilation of the National Atlas of the Mongolian People's Republic, a collaborative project between the Academies of Sciences of the USSR and the MPR. The paper focuses on the principles and content of the vegetation maps within the Atlas, particularly the legend structure of the new 1:3,000,000 vegetation map. Based on the 1979 medium-scale map and significantly refined using recent data from joint biological expeditions, the new legend provides a more detailed representation of the altitudinal zonation, regional differentiation, and ecological features of Mongolia's vegetation.
