Summary
The National Atlas of Mexico, produced by the Institute of Geography at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), fills a significant gap in the country's scientific landscape. It systematically presents the geographical knowledge of Mexico's territory, covering nature, environment, and socioeconomic characteristics of the population. Organized into three volumes with seven major sections, the Atlas comprises 164 sheets and 600 maps. Volume I, already published, includes general, historical, and societal maps; Volumes II and III cover nature/environment and economy/international relations, respectively. Integrating multidisciplinary research and modern cartographic techniques, the Atlas serves as a fundamental tool for political, social, and economic planning, supported by collaboration from academic and public institutions.
