Summary

At its sixth plenary meeting in New Delhi on 2, 4 and 5 December 1968, the commission approved its 1965–68 activity report and reviewed three completed works: studies on socioeconomic maps and natural-conditions/resource atlases, plus an atlas bibliography supplement. It considered working-group proposals for agricultural and transport maps and automated geographical-name indexes, heard country reports on comprehensive atlases, and discussed Australian updating practices and preliminary distribution of the unfinished U.S. atlas. Joint sessions examined national–regional atlas relationships and a proposal for simplified regional atlases for developing countries.
