ICA Commission on Thematic Cartography: Cooperation with the IGU Commission on National and Regional Atlases

This paper outlines two core tasks of the ICA Commission on Thematic Cartography prior to the 1976 Moscow Conference. First, to facilitate the compilation of national reports on thematic mapping, the Commission proposed a standardized outline covering eight aspects, including institutional information, cartographic activities, map types, output quantities, research, and training, aiming to unify report structures and expedite the compilation process. Second, recognizing that the editing of national and regional atlases involves both geographical and cartographic dimensions, the Commission actively sought cooperation with the IGU Commission on National and Regional Atlases.
