Summary
The article recounts the Military Geographic Institute’s publication of its first Atlas of the Argentine Republic in 1953, linking it to the demand for basic cartography and national geographical knowledge associated with Perón’s Second Five-Year Plan. Covering physical, political, and statistical information, the atlas comprised 90 pages and 27 maps, including a bicontinental map of Argentina. Its initial print run of 10,000 copies sold out within eight months, leading to a second edition in 1954.
