This monograph is a major study in the field of atlas cartography, systematically examining the purpose, content, design methods, compilation processes, and application value of comprehensive regional atlases. It elaborates in detail on the design, compilation, and editing characteristics of various atlas sections and major thematic map groups, and systematically introduces the principles and methods for developing new types of thematic maps for atlases, including glaciological and permafrost maps, zoogeographic maps, medical-geographic maps, landscape maps, natural condition assessment maps, construction condition maps, and public service facility maps.
