Summary

Meeting in Moscow and Leningrad, 11–20 August 1958, the IGU Commission on National Atlases reviewed twelve national-atlas reports and nine research presentations. It adopted goals of supporting and standardizing atlases, and planned a survey monograph, bibliography centre, advisory missions, and a Moscow University secretariat. Soviet, Polish, and Swedish geographers offered to prepare publications and a Stockholm exhibition; atlas bodies were asked to submit progress reports by 30 June 1959 for the 1960 Congress.
