Summary

This article reviews the National Atlas of India (fascicule), published in 1977 by the National Atlas Organisation. The atlas includes maps produced between 1959 and 1976 at various scales, covering themes such as administration, physical geography, population, and transport and tourism, supplemented by geographical descriptions and place-name indexes. The review notes that the extended production period led to inconsistencies in data sources (e.g., population figures based on 1951 and 1961 censuses) and uneven printing quality, which affect comparability and legibility. Nevertheless, the atlas is regarded as a valuable national inventory, and its compilation merits commendation.
