Summary
This review evaluates the Touring Club Italiano’s Atlante Internazionale, published in 1927 for major Italian and international geographical congresses. Produced under the direction of L. V. Bertarelli, O. Marinelli, and P. Corbellini, the atlas comprises 169 plates and an index of approximately 200,000 place names. It follows national conventions for Latin-alphabet toponyms, uses the Greenwich meridian, and provides sources, terminology, urban classifications, and conventional signs for each map. The reviewer praises its technical execution, currency, reliability, legibility, careful lettering, and especially its physical maps. Minor reservations concern the unconventional use of lighter blue for greater ocean depths and the absence of information about map projections. Overall, the atlas is judged an outstanding cartographic achievement and an essential acquisition for geographical libraries.
