Summary

This article introduces an atlas of geographical discoveries and explorations spanning from antiquity to the present (1957–1958). The atlas comprises three main map groups: the first illustrates exploration routes using unified methods (colored backgrounds for political divisions and route colors for nationalities), emphasizing the contributions of Eastern peoples; the second depicts the development of geographical knowledge about the Earth; the third presents facsimiles of historical maps to show the evolution of cartography. The article argues that geographical discoveries depend on productive forces, international conditions, and technical means, and criticizes foreign literature for underestimating Eastern achievements.
