Summary

Olof Hedbom reports on the IGU national atlas commission's Moscow conference of 10–20 August, chaired by K. Salichtchev, which surveyed national atlases in progress, sought cartographic ways to ease new atlas work, and prepared the 1960 Stockholm congress exhibition. Speakers described atlases of Belgium, India, Canada, the United States, the USSR and Britain; participants set minimum requirements on source references, accompanying text and English/French/German headings, and asked Sweden to supply the 1960 report's résumé on cartographic technique.
