The Federated States of Micronesia, a nation scattered across the western Pacific Ocean, emerged from the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands in the late 20th century. Its cartographic tradition, however, predates its political independence, rooted in the need to document and administer a vast maritime domain. The single atlas in this collection, *Maps of Micronesia* (1970), was compiled during the trust territory era, reflecting a transitional period when external administrative mapping began to give way to a more localized sense of place. The atlas is notable for its comprehensive coverage of the archipelago's islands, reefs, and atolls, presented in a practical, reference-oriented style typical of mid-century cartography.
