Bengt Rystedt describes the sixth edition of the Atlas of Finland, published in Finnish in 1999 to mark the centenary of the first edition. Its aims were to introduce the public to achievements and trends in academic geography and to trace Finland’s development within networks of interaction extending from local environments to global contexts. The English-language Finland—Nature, Society, and Regions appeared in 2002 with a CD-ROM, updating and expanding selected themes.
